How to re generate silica gel

If the physical and chemical laboratory has a constant temperature drying oven, it is more convenient, put the color-changing silica gel into a moisture-proof aluminum box or other high-temperature resistant containers, open the lid and put it in the drying oven to dry, until the color-changing silica gel returns to normal blue.
If you don’t have a thermostatic drying oven, you can use an oven, set the oven temperature to 100 degrees Celsius, and bake the color-changing silicone on a clean metal plate until it turns blue.
A household microwave oven is also one of the options, and you need to prepare glassware without a lid or other containers that can be put into the microwave oven, and determine the appropriate microwave heat and drying time through experimental observation.
The above methods are all heat treatment, so it needs to be cooled, pay attention to volatilize the water vapor, and then put it into the dryer to dry, so as to avoid rapid water absorption again.
In addition to heat treatment, quicklime can also be used if suitable heating equipment is not available. Put the color-changing silica gel and quicklime in a sealed container at room temperature, and the color-changing silica gel will return to blue in about 10 days. This method is relatively inexpensive, and silicone recycling will also take longer than other methods.
Either way, it needs to be adjusted according to the amount of color-changing silicone, and the color-changing silicone should be spread as flat as possible, so that it can dry faster.
If your chemistry lab doesn’t have a thermostatic drying oven, you can leave the silicone in the sun for 48 hours, after which the silicone can be reused.
Note: Never put the silicone desiccant bag in the microwave, the packaging cannot withstand such a high temperature and will melt.
